Despite what your fitness trainer might say, plenty of Olympians have admitted to giving in to gluttony. Back in 2008, everyone was obsessed with how much Michael Phelps ate despite being built like a greek statue. While training, Phelps reportedly indulged in omelets, egg sandwiches, pancakes, and French toast all in one sitting.

As for this year's games, the New York Times reveals what's on the menu for athletes who are able to burn off anywhere between 4,000 and 6,000 calories per workout. Favorite high-calorie, post-workout foods include: pasta drenched in olive oil (800 calories), entire cheese pizzas (2,000 calories), grenades eggs, and Ben & Jerry's cheesecake-brownie ice cream, all washed down with beer.

According to exercise physiologist Kerry Stewart, athletes are able to consume so much fatty foods because they provide more energy.  "Dietary fat provides nine calories per gram, whereas carbs provide about four per gram," she says.  And even if athletes the aren't taking in enough calories to replenish those lost during rigorous training, they're still liable to shed a lot of weight.

So not only are Olympians stronger and faster than the rest of us, they get to eat all the tasty junk food while the rest of us are stuck worrying about how much pushups we'll have to do to burn off that Mars Bar we had for lunch.
