Are you sitting down, because the following news might just make you want to run away from chairs for the rest of your short, miserable life.

The data was compiled off five different large-scale studies with two
million subjects, which make the results that much more damning. Doctors
have long warned about the dangers of a sedentary lifestyle, but this
latest research indicates that sitting for more than three hours a day can shorten your life by about two years.
And it's even worse for couch potatoes, as the findings suggests that people who watch fewer than two hours of
live television a day live an average of 1.4 years longer. And all this sitting on your ass has gotten so bad that Peter Katzmarzyk (lead author of the paper) even compared it to smoking:
It's right in the same ballpark as smoking and obesity — sedentary behavior is in the same category. Smoking is still the Number One risk factor [for early death], but sitting is catching up.
And apparently, exercising regularly aren't enough to combat the dangers
of sitting, which means all that efforts spent at the gym after work was
really for nothing but bragging rights. You might as well just lay down on the floor and wait for the inevitable.
