Before, the key selling point to Apple was that it was virus free. To add to its coolness and more, early users of Apple computers had this to tout.
Apple hardware is “built on the world’s most advanced operating system,” the company’s site declares, and part of the sophistication, it has emphasized, is it's exceptionally strong immune system. But that's no longer true.
So instead of its usual marketing spiel, it's got another message on its website which has been replaced by a more generic boast: “It’s built to be safe.” And the slogan of the past — “Safeguard your data. By doing nothing.” — has been replaced by the much gentler “Safety. Built in.”
In an era where every OS now faces a threat to either hacks or viruses, it's safe to say that the only thing we can be sure of is to be wary of best practices, and abreast with current events and be quick to change.
