A Chinese construction company called Broad Sustainable Building (BSB) has just announced plans to take on Dubai's "Burj Khalifa" by building the world's newest tallest building in just 90 days. For those of you who don't know, this is the very same company behind the three-story building that went up in nine days and a 30-story hotel constructed in just 15 days:



According to inhabitat, the 'Sky City' project will be located in Changsha, the provincial capital of Hunan Province. The 220-story building will feature luxury apartments, low income housing, and space for businesses and retail. It will also be earthquake-resistant and have 31 high-speed elevators to take visitors to the upper-level observation decks.

In order to complete all this in record time, BSB will be using a proprietary prefabrication technique which will take about four months to complete at its factory. As for the installation on site, it will take just about two months to complete. The project is slated to be completed by January 2013, once it gets approved by the Chinese government.

The project will reportedly cost around $628 million to construct, which is relatively cheaper than the Burj which cost an estimated $1.5 billion. The building will also stand about 10 meters higher than the current world contender. Taller, cheaper and faster, it's like killing three record-breaking birds with one stone.
