There's a difference between a strong handshake and one that seems like the other guy is trying to crush your hand bones.

Instead of avoiding handshakes for life, redditor user NotSayingJustSaying shares this neat trick that will help you keep your hand intact and spare your bones from being ground into dust:
When you are going in for the handshake, make sure that you make close contact with the web between your thumb and forefinger with their web. When you close your hand, your four fingers should wrap around the bottom of the heel of their hand. There is no way for them to squeeze your hand from this position, and your handshake will be firmer because of it.
